Tennessee hospital to reopen in January

Cumberland River Hospital in Celina, Tenn., is slated to reopen in January, roughly 10 months after it shut down, according to The Herald-Citizen.

In January, officials announced that Cumberland River Hospital was shutting down due to financial challenges. The hospital experienced significant losses in recent years due to declining reimbursements and lower patient volumes. The hospital's 146 employees were laid off when the facility closed on March 1.

Johnny Presley, a physician assistant, formed Rural Hospitals & Clinics of America to buy Cumberland River Hospital in August. He paid $200,000 for the hospital, which sold for more than $6 million in 2012.

Mr. Presley plans to open an outpatient clinic at the facility Nov. 15. The tentative opening date for the hospital is Jan. 1, Mr. Presley told The Herald-Citizen.
