RCM tip of the day: Teach staff, patients how to use new software

When implementing new software to improve the revenue cycle, healthcare providers should make sure they train their staff and patients on how to use it, advised Rajesh Voddiraju, CEO of revenue cycle management company Health iPASS.

"Improving the revenue cycle is so much more than a 'build it, and they will come' mentality," he said. "It's more than dropping in a revenue cycle solution and expecting staff and patients will immediately adopt."

Mr. Voddiraju recommended that healthcare providers adopt a clear staff training program and "establish incentives to drive understanding and acceptance."

He also recommended that patients be told "what's in it for them" in using the software.
