Private equity pushes into healthcare: 8 latest deals

There were more than 700 private equity deals in the healthcare industry in 2018. The healthcare sector continued to draw private equity investors last year, and activity is off to a strong start in 2020.

Here are eight private equity deals announced in the past month:

1. Provation Medical, a portfolio company of Clearlake Capital Group, acquired MD-Reports, a New York City-based provider of EMR and practice management software.

2. Court Square Capital Partners acquired Medical Knowledge Group, a New York City-based marketing platform for biopharmaceutical companies.

3. Galen Partners acquired Evolve Treatment Centers, a Los Angeles-based adolescent behavioral health services provider.

4. Osceola Capital acquired Healthcents, an Austin, Texas-based provider of medical reimbursement services.

5. Medsphere Systems, a Carlsbad, Calif.-based provider of healthcare IT software, raised $40 million from TPG Sixth Street Partners.

6. Montagu Private Equity agreed to acquire the sports and reconstructive surgery implants divisions of RTI Surgical Holdings.

7. Frazier Healthcare Partners acquired EPTAM Precision Solutions, a Northfield, N.H.-based outsourced medical device manufacturer.

8. Hospice of South Carolina, a portfolio company of The Vistria Group, acquired Spartanburg, S.C.-Agape Hospice.
