Private equity pushes into healthcare: 6 latest deals

There were more than 700 private equity deals in the healthcare industry in 2018, and the healthcare sector continues to draw private equity investors.

Here are six private equity deals announced in the past month:

1. Audax Private Equity entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Aspen Surgical, a Caledonia, Mich.-based manufacturer of single-use surgical products.

2. Starr Investment Holdings invested $700 million of "long-duration capital" in Radiology Partners, an El Segundo, Calif.-based network of radiology practices.

3. Ciox Health, an Alpharetta, Ga.-based clinical data exchange company, secured a $30 million equity investment. The financing was co-led by New Mountain Capital and Merck Global Health Innovation Fund.

4. Ares Management and Leonard Green & Partners acquired Press Ganey Associates, a Wakefield, Mass.-based provider of safety, quality, patient experience and workforce engagement solutions for healthcare organizations.

5. SightMD, an ophthalmology provider group backed by Chicago Pacific Founders, acquired Park Avenue Eye Institute in New York City.

6. Caprion Biosciences and HistoGeneX agreed to combine their businesses into one company focused on immune monitoring, protein characterization and tissue pathology solutions for immunotherapy and drug development. The deal was facilitated by an investment from Arsenal Capital Partners.
