Phoenix hospital reopens

Phoenix-based Abrazo Maryvale Campus, a 232-bed hospital that shuttered in December 2017, has reopened under new ownership, according to a news release.

Maricopa Integrated Health System, also in Phoenix, and soon to be named Valleywise Health, purchased the hospital campus from Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare in February 2018.

Maricopa health system officials said the facility began providing 24/7, full-service emergency care on April 11. The newly remodeled emergency department has 30 treatment bays and a 16-bed clinical decision unit. It will offer general radiology, ultrasound, computerized tomography and full laboratory and pharmacy services.

The hospital also will provide behavioral healthcare for patients needing hospitalization for mental illnesses, and there will be 48 beds available for their care once the service begins. Hospital officials said they plan to have 192 beds for court-ordered psychiatric evaluation and treatment.
