Pennsylvania hospital shortchanges workers' paychecks — again

Several disruptions to payroll at Ellwood City (Pa.) Medical Center have been reported in recent months, and workers only received a portion of their pay on March 1, according to the Ellwood City Ledger.

Hospital employees received only minimum-wage pay for their hours for the fourth payday in a row. The other times this happened, it has taken up to three weeks for the employees to receive the rest of their wages.

Ellwood City Medical Center employees have reported more than 12 paycheck delays or nonpayments since August. The hospital, owned and managed by Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Americore Health, is the subject of federal and state investigations because of the payroll problems, according to the report.
