Oklahoma hospital misses payroll for 3rd time

The company that operates Prague (Okla.) Community Hospital failed to pay workers Feb. 15, according to local TV station KFOR.

Four things to know:

1. This is the third time in recent months Kansas City, Mo.-based EmpowerHMS has failed to pay the hospital's workers. The management company missed payroll in early December and on Feb. 1.

2. Hospital employees also reported problems with their health insurance. Staff told KFOR that money is being deducted from their paychecks for health insurance, but EmpowerHMS let their health insurance lapse or didn't secure policies for them.

3. The City of Prague is suing EmpowerHMS and its CEO for breach of contract in federal court. A hearing in the case is scheduled for Feb. 19.

4. Lawyers for EmpowerHMS declined to comment to KFOR about the problems reported at Prague Community Hospital due to the pending litigation.
