MU Health eyes cuts to boost profits

In order to meet a goal of $100 million in annual profits, leaders at Columbia, Mo.-based MU Health  plan cuts of at least $25 million, according to the Columbia Daily Tribune.

UM Health's revenue exceeded $1 billion in fiscal year 2018, with operating income hitting a record $104 million. In order to sustain these   profits for a decade, the system will make significant cuts, though leaders did not disclose where the cuts would come from.

"It’s not a very good picture. If you stick with status quo, and we don’t implement different strategies, then essentially you drop off the table," said Mike Blair, CFO of MU Health. "It’s not going to be easy, but we can get $25 million out of our system."
