That’s a 12.4 percent increase compared with the average monthly enrollment from July to September last year. At the end of June, 49 states and the District of Columbia reported a total of about 66 million individuals were enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP. More than 600,000 people enrolled in June alone, according to CMS.
Among states that expanded their Medicaid programs under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Medicaid and CHIP enrollment increased by more than 18.5 percent compared to enrollment from July to September 2013, while states that didn’t expand Medicaid saw an increase of about 4 percent.
