Montana residents protest $8.6M in proposed Medicaid cuts

Kelly Gooch -

Proposed state Medicaid cuts brought out opposition Monday at the Montana Capitol in Helena, according to a Montana Public Radio report.

Montana is proposing $8.6 million in cuts to the state's department of public health and human services. This would potentially mean shuttering some case-management services as well as decreased payments to healthcare professionals, according to the report.

Montana Public Radio reports more than 100 people sought to testify during a state legislative committee hearing, "saying the proposed cuts would harm elderly people, those with mental illnesses or disabilities and cause them to need costlier treatment or services or even shorten their lives."
