Wyoming House Speaker Rep. Kermit Brown (R-Laramie) told the Associated Press that at least one amendment, and likely more, to the budget will be brought up in regard to Medicaid expansion.
“I can’t tell you exactly how that’s going to play out. But I am going to allow a full-throated debate on Medicaid expansion under one of those budget amendments,” Rep. Brown told the Associated Press.
According to Rep. Brown, it is unclear when exactly the Medicaid expansion issue will surface this week, the report reads.
In the meantime, some hospitals still have hope that an alternate Senate bill may assist with the cost of caring for patients who can’t afford it, according to a Wyoming Tribune Eagle report.
As of Monday, the bill, which would provide $5 million to hospitals in the state to help pay for charity care, had passed its final reading in the Wyoming Senate and was in the Wyoming House of Representatives, according to the report.
The report notes that two-thirds of the money from the bill, Senate File 145, would go to Wyoming’s rural “critical access” hospitals.
