The initiative is focusing on mental healthcare capacity, workforce development, chronic disease management, and nutrition security and equity, according to a press release emailed to Becker’s.

Part of the initiative includes a partnership with several universities to offer loan repayment programs, fellowships, stipends and salary supplements for those in the mental healthcare field. The hospital will also expand its mobile health initiative for those who are unable to access a hospital or health system.

“The pandemic shined a light on long-standing barriers and inequities in healthcare. At the same time, the mental health system across Massachusetts reached a breaking point with dramatically increased need for care and limited capacity,” said CEO Anne Klibanski, MD.
