Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare plans to close five nursing and assisted living facilities in Massachusetts, according to the Boston Business Journal.
Kindred said it will close Harborlights Nursing in Boston, Tower Hill Nursing in Canton, Highgate Nursing in Dedham, Avery Manor Nursing in Needham and Massachusetts Assisted Living in Needham.
In a filing with the state, Kindred said it will lay off 628 employees from the Massachusetts facilities by Feb. 3, 2018, according to the report.
"The company has transferred the day-to-day operations of these facilities to a third party and expects the closing of these facilities will be completed in the second quarter of 2018," Kindred said in a statement to the Boston Business Journal.
