Kentucky hospitals see uncompensated care drop 77% since 2012

Brooke Murphy -

Kentucky hospitals provided almost 77 percent less uncompensated care in 2015 than they did in 2012, according to KyForward.

That finding comes from a new study by the StateHealthAccessDataAssistanceCenter at the University of Minnesota, which examined the impact of the Affordable Care Act in Kentucky.

The report found Kentucky hospitals provided nearly $2.6 billion in uncompensated care in 2013 compared to $522 million in 2015. Emergency department utilization also fell from 30.4 percent in 2012 to 25 percent in 2014.
