Intermountain, R1 RCM collaborate to launch Salt Lake tech center

Revenue cycle management company R1 RCM and Intermountain Healthcare will take part in opening a 30,000-square-foot innovation and technology center June 11 in Salt Lake City.

R1 and Intermountain Healthcare leaders, community business leaders and local nonprofit organizations are slated to be at the grand opening event, according to a news release. R1 and Intermountain have collaborated on the project. It is the R1 Technology and Innovation Center, and Intermountain will be a partner in testing/development.

"R1 has found the Salt Lake City market to be a great source of technical talent with a strong work ethic. Their new center will provide Intermountain and all R1 customers with an opportunity to leverage cutting-edge workflows that will improve service and help make healthcare more customer-friendly, digitally enabled and affordable," Intermountain CFO Bert Zimmerli told Becker's in April.

The center will be used to develop RCM solutions for healthcare organizations, as well as help R1 clients and others adopt artificial intelligence, robotic process automation and other technologies that can be used for revenue cycle improvement.

The center includes a virtual revenue cycle model office and will also serve as a client experience center and support Utah's technology community.
