Health IT, RCM sectors see $9.1B in mergers, acquisitions in year's first half

Greenberg Advisors, an investment bank specializing in mergers and acquisitions for revenue cycle management and health IT firms, has released its analysis of mergers and acquisitions in the RCM and health IT sectors for the first half of 2019.

Three data highlights:

1. Investment in health IT and RCM sectors grew 76 percent in the first half of 2019 compared to the same period a year prior, according to Greenberg Advisors' research and relationships throughout the sectors. This is based on $9.1 billion of deal value in the first half of this year. 

2. In the first half of 2019, there were 73 transactions in the health IT and RCM sectors, 60 percent of which were completed by private equity or private equity-backed buyers.

3. Greenberg Advisors said venture capital has continued to invest in the health IT and RCM sectors, specifically for technology surrounding clinical analytics, clinical decision support and patient engagement.
