CMS approves vital step for NH Medicaid expansion alternative

CMS has approved the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services premium assistance waiver, which is a vital part of the state’s alternative Medicaid expansion plan.

With the premium assistance waiver approved by CMS, residents will be able to enroll in the state’s Medicaid expansion alternative through the state marketplace in 2016 and receive premium assistance from the state.

“Moving the New Hampshire Health Protection Program population to the marketplace will strengthen our efforts to bring competition to our health insurance marketplace, increasing choices for all New Hampshire citizens,” said New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan.
