Cleveland Clinic receives $10M grant to support eye institute

Alia Paavola -

Cleveland Clinic's Cole Eye Institute was gifted a $10 million grant from the Timken Foundation of Canton, which will allow the eye institute to almost double in size. The grant will help the institute provide service to its growing patient base, advance many research projects and supply more educational opportunities.

The expansion of the Cole Eye Institute will include the addition of the Louise Timken Ophthalmic Education Center, which will focus on educational opportunities within the institute.

The grant backs Cleveland Clinic's seven-year centennial campaign, the Power of Every One, seeking to raise $2 billion for improvements. Currently, the campaign has reached $1.1 billion.

The Cole Eye Institute employs over 100 physicians and researchers, who carry out more than 275,000 patient visits and 13,000 surgeries each year.
