Cigna, Humana Trim 3Q Lobbying

Health insurers Cigna and Humana both decreased their federal lobbying efforts in the third quarter of fiscal year 2011.

Cigna decreased its lobbying by 34 percent from the same quarter last year, according to an Associated Press/Bloomberg Businessweek report. Cigna spent a total of $470,000 lobbying issues related to employer-based health insurance tax rates and healthcare reform, down from $710,000 in the third quarter of 2010.


Humana lowered its federal lobbying by 43 percent from the third quarter of 2010, according to an Associated Press/Green Bay Press Gazette report. Humana spent a total of $160,000 lobbying healthcare reform and other health insurance issues, down from $281,000 in spent in the same period last year.
