California hospital seeks $20M for outpatient diagnostic center

Kelly Gooch -

Sonoma (Calif.) Valley Hospital wants to raise at least $20 million to fund a new outpatient diagnostic center within the facility, according to a Sonoma Index-Tribune report.

The hospital's foundation, which announced the capital campaign on Nov. 12, said plans involve repurposing the old emergency room and surgery department, as well as adjacent space, to create the 20,000-square-foot diagnostic center. Plans include a new 128-slice CT scanner and a new MRI, along with updated ultrasound and X-ray equipment, and updated space and equipment for cardiology and laboratory services.

Hospital CEO Kelly Mather said the planned diagnostic center is part of the hospital's master plan that included renovation of the emergency department and surgery center. It is projected to increase annual net revenue by $1.5 million, partially from University of California San Francisco using the facility.
