Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital received a total of $35 million from three families to help support its $260 million expansion project, according to the South Florida Business Journal.

Christine Lynn, the chair of the hospital's board of trustees, pledged $15 million; Stanley Barry, the chairman of the hospital foundation, and his wife Marilyn Barry donated $10 million; and Richard Schmidt, the past chair of the board of trustees, and his wife Barbara Schmidt gifted $10 million. All three donors and their families have been long-time donors to the nonprofit facility.

"These donors are among our most cherished community partners and intimate members of the Boca Raton Regional family, who lead through their commitment of time and expertise, as well as philanthropy," BRRH President and CEO Jerry Fedele, told the South Florida Business Journal. "They set the pace for others to ensure outstanding, best-in-class healthcare in Boca Raton. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude."

The $260 million expansion project includes constructing a seven story, 278-square-foot patient tower, renovating its surgical suite and cardiovascular intensive care unit and adding more private patient rooms.
