Aledade launches 5 more physician-led ACOs

Bethesda, Md.-based Aledade, an organization that helps independent physicians band together to create ACOs, announced the launch of five new ACOs in North Carolina, Kansas, Alabama, Louisiana and Pennsylvania.

The company, which celebrated its fifth year on June 27, now operates 27 ACOs across 25 states, together managing more than $3.5 billion in healthcare spending. "Five years ago, we founded Aledade with the core belief that with the right help, independent primary care physicians can thrive in the new, value-based healthcare system," Farzad Mostashari, MD, Aledade CEO and co-founder, said in a press release.

The five new ACOs will start in Medicare's Pathways to Success Program on July 1 alongside 11 existing Aledade ACOs.

The new ACOs collectively bring together 23 different physician groups.
