9 things to know about physician practice revenue cycle award winners

The Healthcare Financial Management Association recently shared data on the six physician practices that received the association's 2019 MAP Award for high performance in revenue cycle.

The data covers these winners:

  • ENT & Allergy Associates (Tarrytown, N.Y.)
  • Privia Medical Group (Arlington, Va.)
  • Genesis Medical Group (Zanesville, Ohio)
  • St. Elizabeth Physicians (Crestview Hills, Ky.)
  • St. Mary Physicians Group (Langhorne, Pa.)
  • Virginia Eye Institute (Richmond) 

Here are nine data points, based on each practice's 2018 fiscal year end.

Net days in accounts receivable 
75th percentile: 18.6
50th percentile: 23.5
25th percentile: 27.5

Point-of-service cash collection (share of self-pay dollars collected throughout the fiscal year at the point-of-service)
75th percentile: 60.5 percent
50th percentile: 55.7 percent
25th percentile: 50 percent

Claim denial rates
75th percentile: 3.2 percent
50th percentile: 4 percent
25th percentile: 5.1 percent
