75% of health systems deployed RCM technology during pandemic, survey says

Katie Adams -

Nearly three-quarters of hospitals and health systems deployed revenue cycle management technology during the pandemic, according to survey results released April 29 by healthcare RCM automation company AKASA.

From Dec. 17 to Feb. 5, AKASA surveyed 354 chief financial officers and revenue cycle leaders working at 200 hospitals and 83 health systems.

The survey found that nearly 40 percent of hospitals and health systems were able to use fully remote deployment processes to maintain their RCM projects while social distancing requirements were in place. It also found that more than 35 percent of hospitals and health systems experienced RCM project delays during the pandemic, with 90 percent of these delays lasting three to six months or longer.
