Here are six hospital and health system CFOs who were recently in the news.

1. Thomas Aaron was in the news as he was named executive vice president and CFO of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.

2. Partners HealthCare CFO Peter Markell was in the news discussing the Boston-based system's potential acquisition of Providence, R.I.-based Care New England's hospitals.

3. Brad Stein was in the news as he was appointed CFO of Medical City McKinney (Texas).

4. Ben Melson was in the news as he was named senior vice president and CFO of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

5. Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolinas HealthCare System CFO Greg Gombar was in the news as he is retiring from his position at the end of 2017.
