Uvalde Memorial Hospital to build $83M replacement facility

Anuja Vaidya -

Uvalde (Texas) Memorial Hospital has started construction on an $83 million, two-story replacement facility, according to an Uvalde Leader-News report.

The new facility is expected to encompass 180,000 square feet, up from the current 170,000-square-foot hospital. The new hospital is being constructed southeast of the current facility, allowing for uninterrupted service during the construction period. Additionally, the new hospital "will focus on the growing shift from inpatient to outpatient services," said Tom Nordwick, the hospital's CEO, according to the report.

Construction on the replacement hospital is expected to be complete by 2020.
