Stanford to open $2B hospital this weekend

Ayla Ellison -

After 10 years of planning and construction, Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Health Care will open a $2 billion hospital on Nov. 17, according to the Palo Alto Weekly.

Stanford Health Care President and CEO David Entwistle will accompany the first patient across the enclosed sky bridge from the old hospital to the new 824,000-square-foot facility at 9 a.m. on Nov. 17. All patients are expected to be transferred to the new hospital by that afternoon, according to the report.

To prepare for the move, more than 4,000 physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers underwent training to familiarize themselves with the new facility.
