'Miscommunication' prompts Ohio hospital lockdown

OhioHealth Dublin (Ohio) Methodist Hospital went into lockdown May 14 after a caller alerted police about a possible security threat, according to WCMH TV.

After a search of the hospital, Dublin police quickly determined the afternoon 911 call was a miscommunication, the TV station reported.

In a statement emailed to Becker's Hospital Review, a Dublin Methodist spokesperson said there was never a real threat at the facility.

"OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital leadership has been working with Dublin Police after a potential concern was raised in the community. As Dublin Police started their investigation, the emergency department at Dublin Methodist Hospital went into a brief lockdown," the spokesperson wrote. "As a result of the investigation, Dublin Police have determined that there never was a threat to Dublin Methodist Hospital, and the lockdown is no longer in place at the emergency department.  There was no disruption of service for patients or staff."
