Massachusetts health center expands services in $25M project

Lowell (Mass.) Community Health Center is expanding services to include vision and dental as part of a $25 million project, according to the Lowell Sun

The health center is renovating 65,000 square feet of additional space on four floors to expand primary care services and incorporate dental and vision care.

The renovation will include an optical shop, 16 dental exam rooms, an expanded adult medicine department with integrated behavioral health and HIV/AIDS services, outpatient substance use treatment services and a clinic that will offer physical therapy and rehabilitation.

The center estimates 2,000 new dental patients and 5,000 new vision patients in the first year and plans to hire 60 employees, including dentists, optometrists, medical assistants and dental hygienists.

Services are expected to begin in February.
