Bloomington-based Indiana University Health is set to break ground on its Regional Academic Health Center in two weeks and will transfer services from Bloomington Hospital once construction is completed, according to a WXIN report.

IU Health plans to sell the site of the old hospital to the city for $6.5 million once Bloomington Hospital services are transferred to the new facility. IU Health also intends to spend at least $7 million to demolish the old hospital once the new facility opens.

The Regional Academic Medical Center is expected to open in late 2020.
