Florida hospital transitions services to new $203M facility

Alia Paavola -

Florida Hospital Apopka transitioned its services Wednesday morning to its new $203 million facility about 3.5 miles away, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

At 7 a.m. Dec. 13 the former Apopka hospital stopped accepting new patients and a fleet of ambulances transferred 20 patients to the new facility.

The new facility is a seven-story hospital with 120 patient rooms, a 30,000-square-foot emergency department, a catheterization laboratory and surgical suites.

The old hospital campus is expected to be redeveloped into a mixed use commercial property.
