Plans to build an 18,223-square-foot "neighborhood hospital" in Delafield, Wis., may have hit a roadblock because the proposed site of the facility is zoned for commercial and hospital use, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Embree Asset Group said the hospital would be the first of its kind in Wisconsin, with eight inpatient beds, seven outpatient exam rooms, emergency services and no surgical or outpatient procedures.
"The hospital itself is a different concept than I think most of what we are traditionally familiar with," said Denise Valenta, Embree Asset Group's division manager of healthcare, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "It's more of a neighborhood hospital, and it caters to the local residents."
Delafield city planners first need to see if they can rezone the parcel the hospital would be on or if they would need to redesignate the entire development.
