The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.
1. Mayo Clinic begins $65M upgrade of Mankato hospital's surgical suite
Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic Health System started a $65 million expansion of its Mankato, Minn. hospital's surgical suite.
2. UMMC breaks ground on $180M children's hospital expansion
The University of Mississippi Medical Center is constructing a facility next to Batson Children's Hospital in Jackson, Miss., the state's only pediatric hospital.
3. Trident Health Care plans to construct 140-bed hospital
Charleston, S.C.-based Trident Health Care, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, is planning to construct a 140-bed hospital on a 21-acre plot purchased for 2.15 million by the health system last year.
4. Virginia rehab center purchases land for 114-bed hospital
Mechanicsville, Va.-based Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Centers purchased 25.1 acres of land in Goochland County for $7.91 million to construct a hospital in partnership with Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University Health System.
5. New York hospital plans $22M expansion
Nyack (N.Y.) Hospital is beginning a $22 million expansion project.
6. McLaren Health Care plans $450M replacement hospital
McLaren Greater Lansing (Mich.) is planning to construct a $450 million replacement hospital adjacent to East Lansing-based Michigan State University.
7. Orlando Health to construct $30M hospital
Orlando (Fla.) Health is building its first freestanding site in Osceola County, Fla.
8. Children's Mercy seeks approval for 9-story hospital research tower
Kansas City, Mo.-based Children's Mercy is seeking approval from the Kansas City Plan Commission for a nine-story research tower.
9. Piedmont hospital to build medically-integrated wellness center in neighboring community
Fayetteville, Ga.-based Piedmont Fayette Hospital will build a medically-integrated wellness center at Pinewood Forrest.
