8 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities. 

1. St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor plans cancer center
St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor (Mich.), a member of Trinity Health System in Livonia, Mich., will begin building a 66,000-square-foot cancer facility in September.

2. Legacy Salmon Creek, GoHealth open urgent care facility
Atlanta-based GoHealth Urgent Care, in partnership with Vancouver, Wash.-based Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, unveiled its urgent care facility in Vancouver Aug. 10.

3. Providence Health System looks to replace hospital with 'health village'
Washington, D.C.-based Providence Health System, owned by St. Louis-based Ascension, looks to build a "health village" to replace its 408-bed hospital in northeast D.C. 

4. Indiana University Health's board approves design for $340M hospital, academic center
Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health's board of trustees approved the design and location for a $340 million hospital and academic center.

5. Beaumont Hospital to unveil first phase of $121M expansion, renovation project
Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak (Mich.) will open its emergency center Aug. 31, marking completion of the first phase of the hospital's four-phase expansion and renovation project.

6. St. Joseph Mercy to expand cancer center with $24M project
St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor (Mich.) is set to begin its 25,000-square-foot expansion project to enhance its comprehensive cancer center.

7. St. John's Regional Medical Center to double ER space with expansion
Oxnard, Calif.-based St. John's Regional Medical Center will double the size of its emergency department as part of a $20 million expansion project.

8. Amita Health seeks approval for $43M expansion
Arlington Heights, Ill.-based Amita Health is planning a $43 million project to expand Amita Health Adventist Medical Center La Grange (Ill.).
