6 hospitals planning upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last two weeks to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.  

1. UPMC presents architects, plans for $2 billion, 3-hospital project
Pittsburgh-based UPMC has selected architecture firms and revealed design plans for its $2 billion investment to build three digitally centered specialty hospitals.  

2. OhioHealth to invest $275M in campus upgrades
Columbus-based OhioHealth plans to invest up to $275 million to improve several of its facilities in the state.

3. Dignity Health to build 345-bed tower as part of campus makeover
Los Angeles-based Dignity Health California Hospital Medical Center plans to build a 345-bed patient tower as part of a $215 million campus upgrade.

4. Virginia Hospital Center's expansion hits snag
The Arlington County Board voted unanimously to defer consideration of Arlington-based Virginia Hospital Center's proposed construction, which calls for a seven-story outpatient pavilion, six-story parking garage and new inpatient facilities. The new vote will take place in December 2018.

5. Intermountain launches 'transformation center'
Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare opened a 12,000-square-foot "transformation center" on Intermountain Medical Center's campus in Murray, Utah.

6. Denver Health breaks ground on $157M one-stop shop outpatient center
Denver Health began construction on its $157 million outpatient center, which will become a "one-stop shop" for patients.
