5 hospitals planning upgrades, expansions

Five hospitals or health systems announced, started or completed construction projects in the last week:

1. Hartford HealthCare plans 5-story expansion
Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare is planning a five-story expansion on its flagship campus.

2. Franciscan Alliance to build new hospital as part of 500-acre development
Mishawaka, Ind.-based Franciscan Alliance is building a new hospital as it undertakes a more than 500-acre expansion.

3. Flagler Health to build Florida 'health village'
St. Augustine, Fla.-based Flagler Health+ plans to build a "health village" in Palm Coast, Fla.

4. Huntsman Cancer Institute breaks ground on $148M building
Huntsman Cancer Institute, part of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, broke ground Sept. 5 on its new eight-story, $148 million building.

5. Ascension to open microhospital in Wisconsin
Ascension Wisconsin, the Glendale-based branch of the Catholic hospital giant, plans to open a microhospital in Menomonee Falls, Wis.
