5 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. Medical University of South Carolina seeks CON to build $325M hospital
Charleston-based Medical University of South Carolina is filing a certificate-of-need application with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control for the development of a new $325 million hospital.

2. 327-bed Florida hospital plans $123M expansion
Jupiter (Fla.) Medical Center is planning a $123 million expansion, which includes a cancer institute, stroke program and an intensive care unit for heart patients and infants.

3. Uvalde Memorial Hospital to build $83M replacement facility
Uvalde (Texas) Memorial Hospital has started construction on an $83 million, two-story replacement facility.

4. NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull opens clinic for LGBTQ community
NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull in New York City opened the Pride Health Center, a facility providing healthcare services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning/queer patients. 

5. BayCare Health System to receive $308M makeover
Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System will invest $308 million to expand three of its existing hospitals.
