Jupiter (Fla.) Medical Center is planning a $123 million expansion, which includes a cancer institute, stroke program and an intensive care unit for heart patients and infants, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The project kicked off with a $30 million plan to replace the internal medical information system at the 327-bed nonprofit hospital. The expansion will add approximately 130,000 square feet of medical space. Construction is scheduled to begin in January.

JMC employs approximately 1,800 staff members and 580 physicians. The expansion will create around 150 positions, said Dale Hocking, CFO and vice president of finance at Jupiter Medical Center.

The expansion is expected to be complete in summer 2019.
