Hospital administrator Bill Phillips said the patient record feature will be fully implemented by May 2020.The new EHR will be deployed at the teaching hospital over three years.
With the new system in place, Mr. Phillips expects the hospital to save $12 million annually just from reducing the number of applications in its current system, which periodically has to be down 24 hours at a time for updates and maintenance.
University Health System’s new EHR is aimed at increasing patient safety by checking patients’ medication lists for adverse drug interactions and improving patient experience with messaging services.
