Tower Health now live on Epic at 5 more hospitals

Jackie Drees -

Tower Health deployed its Epic EHR system Aug. 3 at five more of its hospitals as well as 25 additional Tower Health Medical Group physician practices.

The West Reading, Pa.-based health system and its affiliated medical group practices launched Epic in 2013. Over the past two years, Tower Health has been working to implement the EHR system at its following hospitals, all located in Pennsylvania: Brandywine in Coatesville, Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, Jennersville in West Grove, Phoenixville and Pottstown Hospitals.

Project team members completed almost 1,200 training classes prior to the Epic go live, and more than 4,500 new users were trained for the implementation and launch.

Patients at the newly launched hospitals and physician practices will now have access to MyTowerHealth, an Epic-powered patient portal that allows users to communicate directly with their providers, access test results and view their health information, among other capabilities.

In addition to its six hospitals, Tower Health comprises a network of 22 urgent care facilities, home healthcare facilities and a hospital rehabilitation facility. The health system is home to more than 2,000 physicians.
