Lumberton, N.C.-based Southeastern Health kicked off its Epic EHR go-live Nov. 5.

Southeastern Health officials began their search for a new EHR in 2014, after learning their current system would no longer be supported by the vendor, according to Steven Milston, the health system's CIO. Southeastern Health deployed the initial system in 2000.

The Epic EHR rollout comprises two phases. The first phase, which took place Nov. 5, deployed the product to the hospital and a select group of affiliates. The remainder of Southeastern Health's clinics will deploy the system in spring 2018.

Southeastern Health also rolled out Epic's patient portal, MyChart, to patients Nov. 6.
