Sources: GE may divest its health IT business

Julie Spitzer -

General Electric is reportedly exploring divesting its healthcare and transportation businesses, Reuters reports.

The potential restructuring comes with new CEO John Flannery, who recently said the company's stronger businesses are being held back by those that "drain investment and management resources without the prospect for a substantial reward," according to Reuters.

Last year, GE's healthcare IT drove $18.3 billion in revenue, while its transportation business generated $4.7 billion.

GE declined to comment on the report.
