Seattle Children's startup raises $3M for EHR data extraction software

Jackie Drees -

MDMetrix, a software startup from Seattle Children's Hospital, received $3 million in its latest financing round in support of its data analytics tool, which pulls patient information from EHRs for physician use, Geekwire reports.

The company will use the funds to apply artificial intelligence to the software. The MDMetrix platform integrates patient data and metrics from the EHR for clinicians to monitor, allowing healthcare providers access to information needed to answer questions about the patient's health.

Dan Low, MD, an anesthesiologist at Seattle Children's Hospital, started the company in 2016. Seattle Children's has implemented the software at its main campus and surgery center, according to the report.

The software aims to help clinicians monitor the patient's improvements over time, MDMetrix CEO Warren Ratliff told Geekwire. "We give clinicians visibility they've never had before into what's going on. They're able to ask questions on the fly. They're able to really manage clinical operations in a continuously improving way," he said.
