Providers want more from vendors than traditional HIE capabilities, KLAS finds

Jackie Drees -

Provider organizations want their vendor's technology to go beyond traditional health information exchange capabilities, including supporting the use of more precise and innovative data, according to a recent KLAS Research report.

For its Interoperability Platforms 2019 report, KLAS interviewed provider organizations that were identified by their vendors as being their most advanced users. While all participants said they use their vendor for traditional HIE capabilities, such as patient record sharing, consolidation and alerts, use case adoption varied, among other functions.

When asked how much they've adopted their vendor's population health and data analytics capabilities, participants using the respective vendors said:

· Allscripts: 80 percent.
· Health Catalyst: 29 percent.
· InterSystems: 67 percent.
· Orion Health: 50 percent.

When asked how much they've adopted their vendor's innovation platform beyond population health and standard analytics, participants using the respective vendors said:

· Allscripts: 0 percent.
· Health Catalyst: 0 percent.
· InterSystems: 83 percent.
· Orion Health: 17 percent.
