NoteSwift introduces Samantha, the AI-powered assistant for athenaClinicals EHR

Julie Spitzer -

athenahealth clients can now tap a new virtual assistant, called Samantha, for automated EHR documentation under a partnership with NoteSwift, the companies announced Jan. 30.

NoteSwift's Samantha is now available through athenahealth's "More Disruption Please" marketplace as a fully integrated assistance tool designed to help reduce EHR documentation time and improve accuracy.

To operate Samantha, physicians dictate or type the patient narrative and the assistant parses the text, identifies structured data elements, assigns all required coding, and prepares orders and e-prescriptions for physician sign-off. Samantha places all the information into the correct fields in the athenahealth EHR, athenaClinicals.

"Our revolutionary new EHR virtual assistant, Samantha, saves six to eight hours each week by eliminating the need to manually enter details of the patient encounter," NoteSwift President and CEO Wayne Crandall said in a press release. "Samantha's advanced artificial intelligence creates the entire patient note from a single screen and with just a few clicks."
