New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health will extend its partnership with Allscripts Managed Services through 2026, according to a Jan. 13 news release.

Six things to know:

1. Northwell has used Allscripts' service offering since 2004.

2. Allscripts Managed Services supports clients' infrastructure, Allscripts solutions and third-party applications. The service offering also delivers service desk support and application management services as well as helps with project delivery and strategic planning.

3. Northwell currently uses the service offering enterprise-wide, which includes 23 hospitals and more than 700 physician practices.

4. The managed services extension is expected to add an estimated $500 million to Allscripts' contract backlog, as of Dec. 31, 2019.

5. The contract extension builds upon Northwell's previous partnership extensions with Allscripts; last year, the health system continued use of Allscripts' Sunrise EHR and in 2018 continued use of the EHR vendor's TouchWorks platform for its physician practices.

6. In October, Allscripts and Northwell announced their plans to develop and deploy a cloud-based, voice-enabled EHR.
