New Jersey health system to implement Cerner EHR

Jackie Drees -

Capital Health announced Feb. 19 that it will deploy a Cerner EHR across its Trenton, N.J.-based system.

By implementing a Cerner EHR, Capital Health patients will have access to an online patient portal, where they can message their providers, view their health records and schedule appointments, among other functions.

The health system selected Cerner because its software is expected to improve patients' access to healthcare services, Capital Health president and CEO Al Maghazehe said in a news release.

"Working with Cerner will tremendously aid our efforts to improve access and delivery of healthcare services," Mr. Maghazehe said. "We look forward to working together to more easily provide our patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals access to data and information, as part of our efforts to continually improve the quality and outcomes of health at all levels."

Capital Health comprises two hospitals, an outpatient center and various primary and specialty care practices.
