A Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society subsidiary recognized Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Health for its EMR initiatives.

Lahey Health earned Stage 7 on the eight-stage HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model, which measures the degree to which a hospital or health system uses its EMR functions. Five percent of U.S. hospitals have reached Stage 7, which represents the highest designation.

Lahey Health is the only health system in Massachusetts to achieve this milestone in both acute and ambulatory settings.

"This achievement is an acknowledgement of the seamless integration between community hospitals, primary care physicians and tertiary specialists across the Lahey Health system which ultimately results in better care for our patients," said Richard Nesto, MD, executive vice president and CMO of Lahey Health.
