KLAS: 3 'A-list' EHRs for home health agencies

Jessica Kim Cohen -

KLAS Research released a report on home health agencies in January, highlighting which EHRs were generating the most "market energy" in the space.

For the report, the health IT research firm assessed home health executives' satisfaction with popular EHR vendors, as well as their attitudes toward which vendors were the most competitive. The firm also investigated why home health agencies that switch EHRs choose to do so.

As part of the report, KLAS Research highlighted three vendors as "A-list" based on high customer retention, satisfaction and consideration.

The three EHR vendors:

  • Thornberry, which KLAS Research said is viewed as a partner that provides good value. However, some customers expressed that the vendor would need to demonstrate an ability to scale their customer base with larger agencies before they would consider implementing it.
  • Homecare Homebase, which was the No. 1 EHR vendor when ranked by home health agencies that were considering the system. Additionally, no one surveyed was looking to replace the vendor, although some respondents noted the product was expensive.
  • Meditech, which ranked high on customer satisfaction and retention. However, the product was rarely considered by home health agencies that were not affiliated with an acute-care organization already on the platform.

KLAS Research noted that Epic has strong consideration and high retention, but did not meet the threshold for the "A-list" requirement on customer satisfaction. Organizations using Epic reported that the vendor's home health offering is maturing.
