Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital, part of the Owensboro (Ky.) Health network, completed its transition to an Epic EHR, Messenger-Inquirer reports.
Three things to know:
1. Greensville, Ky.-based Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital's transition to an Epic EHR took about 18 months and cost around $2 million.
2. With the Epic EHR, OHMCH patients will have access to the company's MyChart patient portal, which can be used online or through the MyChart smartphone application. MyChart allows patients to communicate with their providers, view their health information and schedule appointments.
3. OHMCH used the same EHR system since the early 1990s before making the switch to Epic. Owensboro Health transitioned to Epic's system in 2012.
"With the arrival of Epic, we will do away with much of our redundant documentation, loss of information and confusion associated with managing patient health information in multiple record systems," Kathy Myer, OHMCH vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer, told Messenger-Inquirer.
